Obtaining a Sales Tax License within the State of Colorado

For information on how to obtain a sales tax license in Colorado, view the State of Colorado's revenue website. You will also need to register your business' trade name.

Home Offices and Home Occupation

If you are planning on conducting a business out of your residence there are several requirements that must first be met. Please contact the City Clerk's office at 719-346-8652 to find out what is permitted in the area where you live. Obtaining a Liquor License in Burlington

Business owners can apply for liquor licenses in person at our city clerk's office located in City Hall at:

Obtaining a Food Server License

A Food Server License is required for any business establishment handling food. Such licenses are issued by Kit Carson County Health and Human Services in our geographic area. Please call 719-346-7158, extension 18, for additional information and requirements.

The SBDC is an educational non-profit organization, partially funded through the Small Business Administration (SBA) and hosted by Colorado Mountain College.
