Where We Enjoy Company!
This is the reason why my office implements the WBFB (What's Best For Burlington) Motto: Departments are encouraged to create the WBFB type of atmosphere in their daily workplace decisions. Each decision has some type of influence on our community. The attitude of advancing Burlington Ideals and not Personal Ideals will create success.
My family has had the opportunity to be involved in this community for an accumlative of 27 years. What a phenominal community to grow in. The privilege to occupy the chair of City Administrator was given to me in September 2006. Prior to serving the citizenry of Burlington, I had a great career with the Colorado Department of Transportation, maintenance division, for 30 years, retiring in the postion of Senior Supervisor. That experience prepared me for many of my management philosophies today.
The City Hall personnel are here to assist in the needs of our community. They are a talented group of individuals who direct their attention to the needs of Burlington and the people they come in contact with. Direction will be found for you through them. I encourage you to begin your adventure here.
The Burlington Police Department serves our community with Pride in Protecting and Partnering. They create a safe and healthy environment for all citizens and our company. Each Officer is encouraged to Enforce and Embrace the dynamics of rural Burlington. I encourage you to introduce yourself to our Chief and Officers for a greater understanding of their contributions to Burlington's success.
The Public Works Department serves in a "behind the scene - unnoticed" atmosphere, which is right where they should serve. When the electrical switch turns on the lights or air is being circulated, their efforts go unnoticed. When the faucet draws forth water, their efforts go unnoticed. When the children have smooth grass, clean bathrooms, equipment to play on, pools to swim in, their efforts go unnoticed. When the streets are swept, chipped, free of potholes, and snow fall controlled, their efforts go unnoticed. I encourage you, when you do notice a public works employee, offer a handshake of gratitude. Without their unnoticed efforts the advancement of our fine City would be noticed!
The Library, Activities, Old Town Museum and Airport Departments, along with the citizens who volunteer to serve on each advisory board, demonstrates the WBFB philosophy. They encourage stimulus of the mind through books and internet. Children and Adults are exposed to activities, arts, humanities and encouraged to participate in our rural culture. Our heritage is preserved. Educational processes are created to allow young minds to explore and experience the historic life of rural Colorado along with allowing adults to remember where rural Burlington came from, comparing it to the progress it makes each day. Metro area conveniences, emergency medical needs and services, along with the leisure life of flight makes itself available through Burlington's Airport. I encourage you to take the time to visit and introduce yourself to each of these service departments for an "overall" view of why Burlington Enjoys Company.
The City of Burlington is blessed with boasting a TEAM of caring citizens through the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, VA Clinic and VFW Post, CCA Public Relations, Kit Carson County Hospital, Burlington School District # RE6J, Rotary Club International, Ministerial Alliance, Higher Education opportunities through MCC, along with various organizations, businesses, practice and service professionals, making Burlington a marvelous place to Live, Work & Play.
